Purveyor of Pretty

Mesh & Lace owner and “Purveyor of Pretty”, Lisa Zuckerman, has always been obsessed with all things related to fashion. As a little girl, whatever time she wasn't devoting to playing dress-up and practicing her Barbizon modeling poses (see photo at right), she was dressing up her Barbies and transforming them into "doll divas." From plastic dolls to living ones, Lisa's dream has been brought to life in the form of her new Silverlake boutique. Located at 3208 W. Sunset Blvd. (at Descanso), Mesh & Lace specializes in “girlie couture” and focuses on bringing both new and local designers to the Sunset strip, just east of the Junction.

Lisa parlayed her 15 years of fashion experience, 3 of which were spent as an Assistant Manager at Fred Segal Flair in Santa Monica, and most recently as a Junior Publicist at a boutique firm that represented local fashion entrepreneurs such as Elyse Walker in Pacific Palisades and Alan Friedman jewelry in Beverly Hills, to create an environment that combined the elements of wearable fashion and girlish decadence. Having worked under local fashion gurus, as well as coroporate heavyweights like Anthropologie and Banana Republic, Lisa learned how to dress everyone from the red carpet celebrity to the local fashion fan.

Design aesthetic is what sets this Silverlake boutique apart. Mannequins at Mesh & Lace are adorned in vintage costume jewels and a plasma TV plays both camp and classic favorites ranging from “Valley of the Dolls” to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

The men aren’t ignored here, either. There is a “boyfriend sitting area”, where the men can sit in leather armchairs and read surfing books or play video poker while their girlfriends peruse the racks and spend some time in the “boudoir-esque” fitting room. Lisa’s vision for this boutique was to create a space where women could go to find something unique and special…to feel like they were shopping in their best friend’s closet.

Designers showcased at Mesh & Lace include Charlotte Ronson, Manoush, Society for Rational Dress, Dittos, Eugenia Kim, and Karta…just to name a few. With its mix of feminine pieces and rock and roll chic, Mesh & Lace is destined to become a shopping staple amongst Silverlake’s most fashionable set.
